Frequently Asked Questions

It’s a big leap to ask for support.

To help you make a decision, we have listed common questions that people have when considering therapy.

How does telehealth even work?

You can think of telehealth like a secure FaceTime with your therapist.  You are provided with a link to a secure, HIPAA compliant portal that can be accessed from any device with a camera. It has been shown through various studies that the effectiveness of distance counseling is comparable to traditional face to face sessions.

How do I choose between distance counseling and traditional counseling?

Each person is going to be different in their needs, making this a choice that is unique to your situation.  Because of certain safety factors, it is not advisable to utilize this avenue as a treatment if you have a history of frequent or intense suicidal ideation or severe substance use disorders that are not in remission.  Please feel free to schedule a consultation to determine if telehealth would be best for your circumstances.

What is the first session like?

In our first session, we will go through and thoroughly assess for your symptoms and factors that led you into therapy.  This can be a little daunting to think about but be assured that we provide empathetic and nonjudgmental care.  Our assessment allows us the opportunity to get a history of your presenting problems and assist you in identifying your goals for treatment.

How long do I have to do therapy?

Treatment is always voluntary! You are able to request a discharge at any time. There is no cookie cutter time limitations that work for everyone, as all people are different in their responses to services.

What approach do you use?

She operates out of a Humanistic viewpoint, believing that all people are driven towards self-actualization.  Brianna focuses her practice on providing clients with the skill set to necessary to manage and remove all blockages that get in the way of our intrinsic nature to be great.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not bill directly to insurance providers for a couple of reasons.  The most significant of which being privacy.  When working with insurance companies, providers have multiple requirements that they must fulfill, including providing a diagnosis.  It is our belief that you do not have to meet diagnostic criteria to engage in counseling services.  And in the event that you do, we allow you to have control of who is privy to that information.

However, we are able to provide invoices for services that you are able to submit to for reimbursement. Please contact your insurance company directly for further explanation of coverage.  Check out our Resources page for additional support managing your insurance needs.

Who do you serve?

Due to licensing regulations, we are only able to treat North Carolina residents at this time.
